Macau welcomed an average of approximately 153,000 visitors per day during the first six days of the National Day Golden Week (October 1 to 6), notching an annual rise of about 1%, according to a UBS research report. However, under the impact of Typhoon Matmo, the number of visitors on October 5 sank 24% YoY. Nevertheless, visitor growth picked up on October 6, with an annual increase of about 6%, as this year's National Day holiday was extended to a total of eight days. In the first five days of the holiday, mainland visitors made up of about 86% of the total, roughly the same as the same period last year, indicating an average daily number of mainland visitors of about 136,000, up about 1% YoY. UBS projected that demand in the latter part of this year's Golden Week will be stronger than last year, mainly underpinned by premium demand, a low base, and mega events.
