BABA-W's Tongyi Qianwen Becomes Technological Base for AI Singapore

BABA-W (09988.HK)’s subsidiary Alibaba Cloud announced that AI Singapore (AISG) had released a Southeast Asian multilingual large model named “Qwen-SEA-LION-v4”. The core technology base of this model is built on Alibaba's open-source model Tongyi Qianwen (Qwen). It became the top model on the Southeast Asian Language Model Comprehensive Evaluation Benchmark (SEA-HELM) open-source model list (for models with less than 200 billion parameters) immediately after its launch. In this collaboration, Alibaba provided the latest Qwen3-32B as the base model and advanced post-training technical support, while AI Singapore contributed its extensive regional experience and over 100 billion localized data covering various Southeast Asian languages such as Burmese, Indonesian, and Thai, for targeted secondary training and optimization of the model. Alibaba Cloud pointed out that the Southeast Asian region has over 1,200 languages, with complex situations such as code-switching commonly occurring in daily communication. Most global mainstream AI models are centered around English, making it difficult to effectively serve the local market, thus creating a stark AI gap.
